Huntsville-area churches urged to rally for event

There’s only one bridge between man and God — Jesus — and Madison Baptist Association (MBA) churches are rallying together to make sure their area knows about Him.

The Bridge, a four-night evangelistic event, is set for March 9–12, 2014, at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville.

The goal “is to reach the lost of the Huntsville area with the good news of Jesus Christ,” said Charlie Howell, MBA director of missions. “I also believe Christians will be revived and churches revitalized as a result of their participation.”

Steve Hale, staff evangelist of First Baptist Church, Woodstock, Ga., will speak to the adults while Dean and Gayna Forrest of Myrtle Beach, S.C., provide children’s ministry for grades 1 through 6.

Special guest speakers include:

Jeremiah Castille, football team chaplain for the University of Alabama, on Sunday, March 9

Patrick Nix, former quarterback for Auburn University, on Monday, March 10

James Pillsbury, U.S. Army lieutenant, on Tuesday, March 11 (the service is also Military and First Responders Appreciation Night)

Ashley Smith Robinson on Wednesday, March 12. Robinson is known around the world as the single mother who persuaded Brian Nichols, Atlanta’s courtroom killer, to surrender to police after he held her at gunpoint in her apartment for seven hours.

Wednesday will also be Youth Night beginning with a Pizza Blast for youth from grades 6–12 an hour before the event.

Evangelist Bob Smith of Huntsville will lead music. The event will begin at 6:30 each evening.

Howell said many Christians are needed to serve in various capacities — choir, counselors, ushers, children’s ministry and other things.

Most of all, they are needed to bring their lost friends to the event and pray for their hearts to be opened, he said.

“Prayer is just absolutely essential for the success of our efforts,” Howell said. “We want all 87 churches of our MBA to be involved in helping with this great evangelistic event, as well as any other Christians who desire to join us in reaching our city with the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
