I applied to four other schools but made up my mind to come to Judson when I visited the campus as a high school senior. Dr. [Thomas] Wilson asked me questions and let me participate in discussion in the botany class that day, and I thought this was unique. Judson’s strong science division was appealing to me.
At Judson, I had a name, not a number! Every professor called me by name. And I was able to walk into the president’s office and ask for a letter of recommendation for graduate school. He knew me, too, and was happy to help. The smaller classes are a real plus and facilitate learning.
If you have a heart inclined toward missions, Judson’s location is an advantage. There are many opportunities to serve in Alabama’s Black Belt through campus ministries or service-learning classes.
The college gave me nurturing friendships. I grew up an only child, but at Judson, I became part of a sisterhood more than 150 years old. (JC)
