IMB appoints workers with Alabama ties

Six Baptist representatives with Alabama connections were appointed by the International Mission Board for overseas work during an appointment service Nov. 11 at First Baptist Church, Houston. Two are headed to Costa Rica, two to Lesotho and two to a high-security region.

Cavin and Charlotte Cawthon have been tapped to work in San José, Costa Rica. There, he will serve in evangelism and church planting and she will serve in community and home outreach.

A graduate of the Baptist College of Florida in Graceville and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Cavin Cawthon currently serves as pastor of The Church on the Circle, Enterprise, in Coffee Baptist Association. He previously served several other Baptist churches in Alabama and Georgia in the roles of pastor and youth minister.

The Cawthons have three children.

Jim and Teresa Flora have been appointed to work in Lesotho, where he will serve in evangelism and church planting and she, a Guin native, will work in community and home outreach. The Floras have six children.

The other two Alabamians appointed cannot be named because they will be working in a high-security area. (TAB)
