NEW DELHI — The churches of India are growing faster than the churches of South Korea, according to a mission leader from India. P.G. Vargis, founder and leader of Indian Evangelical Team, told Christian Aid that India’s churches are bursting at the seams, with 10 churches that have more than 10,000 members. Vargis told John Lindner of Christian Aid that missionaries from just his team baptized more than 11,700 people last year and another 10,000 accepted Christ at crusades in 2001. Vargas said the only factor that limits the growth of his ministry in India is a lack of funds.
