To compare Inhabited’s last release, “The Revolution,” to their latest, “Love,” is to compare a stick-figure doodle to a photograph — and “The Revolution” was a decent record. But “Love,” though tracing the same general form, is infinitely richer in texture and noticeably nimbler in execution of its female-fronted, buzz-saw guitar, pop-rock-with-attitude style than their last effort. The band ditched what needed ditching, replacing it superbly with what was missing. The result is 10 great songs, all of which incorporate the sort of super-catchy tricks and hooks found in the latest hits by Gwen Stefani (whose lyrics singer Sarah Acker, vocally very similar to Stefani, takes some not-so-subtle shots at), Ashlee Simpson and Kelly Clarkson. Highly recommended.
