The Samford University Interfraternity Council (IFC) traveled to Atlanta to attend the 40th annual Southeastern Interfraternity Conference (SEIFC) Feb. 16–19.
The Samford IFC was recognized for winning a record seven individual awards.
They included the Academic Achievement and Scholarship Award for the yearly scholarship banquet and recognition program; Outstanding Program for the Greek Life Speaker Series, featuring diversity speaker Johnny Lee Clary; and the Interfraternal Relations Award for Greek Weekend 2005.
The university’s IFC also brought home the Campus and Community Relations Award for the Adopt-A-School program with McElwain Elementary School in Birmingham; Outstanding Service Project for the assistance with the Old Howard 100 charity bike ride; Risk Management and Judicial Procedures Award for anti-hazing and alcohol education; and the Outstanding Web Site Award.
Samford’s IFC also won the Fraternal Excellence Award, which is the most prestigious of all the awards given at the conference.
Parsons was also named the SEIFC Advisor of the Year. He has worked in Greek Life for 10 years and has been in his current position at Samford for three years.
