Ireland receives ‘distinguished service award’

Dan Ireland (left), director emeritus of Alabama Citizens Action Program (ALCAP), recently received the 2008 Richard D. Land Distinguished Service Award. Presented by the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC), the award recognized Ireland’s 30 years of “boldly proclaiming the Word of God” through ALCAP.

Land, ERLC president, called him a “tireless defender of faith and family in the public square” and “fearless advocate for biblically informed policies.”

“He is a tremendous servant of the Lord, Christians and churches in helping them to apply the admonition to be salt and light in society,” Land said. (TAB)
