Iron City Baptist reaches out with wild game feast

It was a feast for the senses as Iron City Baptist Church, Anniston, in Calhoun Baptist Association hosted its 11th annual Wild Game Supper for more than 250 outdoor enthusiasts Feb. 24, with speaker Sammy Gilbreath, director of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions’ office of evangelism, highlighting the night. "This is a win-win situation for the people of our church and for the people of the community," said Pastor Mike Holcomb. "The camaraderie that takes place as our people come together to reach our community is precious."

After months of planning and 48 hours of mixing, basting, chopping, smoking and frying, the church’s men presented a feast of wild and domestic meats. The Iron City Boys bluegrass gospel band and contemporary soloists provided the music, and Gilbreath challenged the audience to decide if there is "one thing you lack — a personal relationship with Jesus Christ." The event ended as 150 men filled the altar to pray for the salvation of one lost person in their lives.
