Church has been a comfort to me all my life,” Harvey Jackson said. “I first remember going to church when I was about 4 years old.” Jackson graduated from Auburn University and received a law degree from the University of Alabama. He spent two years working for the FBI. Now 86, he is still a practicing attorney with Jackson, Fikes, Hood & Brakefield in Jasper.

Q: How did you come to know the Lord?
A: It was back in the spring of 1932. We had a revival. I remember going to the revival by myself and then joining the church. I have been a member of that church for about 75 years.

Q: How have you been involved in church through the years?
A: I still teach Sunday School. I started teaching Sunday School about 1953. I have been chairman of deacons and on three or four pulpit committees. I just try to take an active part in it.

Q: What have you gotten from those ministries?
A: I felt like I drew closer to the Lord.

Q: What difference has being a Christian made in your life?
A: It has been a great comfort to me over the years. I have always felt like I was saved, and I rest in the knowledge of the promise of God. He will not lose His grip on me. I take comfort in John 14:1–3.
