Jackson, Robert Harold

Robert Harold Jackson, a former Alabama Baptist pastor and director of missions (DOM), died Jan. 13. He was 75.

Jackson attended the University of Alabama (UA), where he was vice president of the Baptist Student Union both at UA and statewide.

He graduated with a bachelor of science from Samford University in Birmingham and earned his master of divinity and doctorate from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.

Jackson served as pastor of churches in Alabama, Indiana, Mississippi and Kentucky.

His Alabama pastorates included Clio Baptist Church and First Baptist Church, Monroeville.

In addition, he served as associate pastor of Central Baptist Church, Decatur, for three years. Jackson was also DOM for Bethlehem and Pine Barren Baptist associations from 1988 until 1990.

He served as president of the Romanian-American Mission from its inception in 1996 until 2010, at which time he became executive director.

Jackson is survived by wife Abigail, one daughter, one son, three grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.  (TAB)
