Mike Jackson, pastor of Eastside Baptist Church, Birmingham, was elected as an associate in the office of evangelism Aug. 19 by the executive committee of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions.
Jackson begins his new position Sept. 20. He will work under the direction of Sammy Gilbreath and will be responsible for the office’s new ALONE strategy. With this strategy, Jackson will help churches develop specific evangelism strategies. He will also assist with International Evangelism conferences and eventually lead an inter faith witness training program.
Jackson has been pastor at Eastside for nearly 18 years. He was associate pastor and minister of youth at Southside Baptist Church, Gadsden for five years before that. He holds an M. Div. from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
He and his wife, Lyn, are the parents of three children, one of whom is deceased, and one grandchild.
