Jeff and Sheri Easter

My, Oh My!
Spring Hill

It’s Jeff and Sheri Easter, back in full force with a new release that features their own unmistakable sound and style. The group remains true to their style and roots, yet it’s a joy to watch them hone their craft in finer detail and with more excellence than ever before.

Tracks vary from upbeat, toe-tappers to slower, heartwrenching ballads featuring banjos, upright bass, fiddle, dobro, mandolin and harmonica. The raspy, warm tones that have made Sheri a fan favorite for years are captured alongside Jeff’s signature vocals and blends. Charlotte Ritchie’s soft soprano harmonies and highlights have never sounded better.

“Sing, Sister, Sing” gets the album off to a rousing start with a clap and a stomp, showcasing Sheri’s storytelling vocal abilities.

Jeff and Sheri have included their own rendition of the classic “John Saw,” a barn-burner with hints of their families, both Polly Lewis Copsey (Sheri’s mother), of the Lewis Family, and James Easter (Jeff’s father), of the Easter Brothers, join their children for a special rendition of “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.”

Sheri slows the album’s tempo with a ballad she penned titled “Learn to Love Again,” a song that reminds us of the fruitlessness of carrying grudges and of how Calvary is a picture of forgiveness that we need to enact in our daily lives. Sheri’s writing is featured on a number of songs including “New Day,” an uptempo selection that celebrates life that God creates and recreates daily.

“Is There Anything I Can Do?” was penned specifically for Jeff based on his life and the high value he places on daily servanthood to others. While it’s upbeat and fun in nature, this Good Samaritan message should not be overlooked.

Sheri takes a look at what she is doing with her life and challenges us to do the same with the ballad “She Loved,” a song written in reflection on her own mother’s love and commitment to her family. “You Must Be Born Again” is accented with some true Easter-styled pickin’!

Jeff and Sheri have delivered a well-rounded, true-to-form, life-empowering recording.

Addressing moments of victory and joy as well as times of despair and faith, there are light moments of enjoyment; but there is an authencity and depth featured, alongside some intense pickin’ and grinnin’, that leaves one saying, “My, Oh My!”
