Jimmy Dukes, pastor of Spanish Trail, Daphne, dies at age 72

James E. “Jimmy” Dukes, longtime pastor of Spanish Trail Baptist Church, Daphne, died May 19. He was 72.

Before serving as pastor of Spanish Trail Baptist, Dukes was pastor of Judson Baptist Church, Atmore, for 27 years. A Selma native, he attended Auburn University and served in the Army National Guard. 

Dukes also owned and operated Good Works Construction Company for nearly 40 years.

Dukes is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rheada; son, Jed; daughters, Tara and Shelley; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. (Grace Thornton)
