Joe Armour retires from First Baptist Tuscaloosa

After more than 37 years of Christian ministry, the last 18 of those at First Baptist Church Tuscaloosa, Joe Armour retired Dec. 31. During his time at FBC Tuscaloosa, Armour served as minister for adult education, pastor to adults and connections pastor.

FBC Tuscaloosa members describe Armour as “faithfully living out the biblical mandate given to ministers in Ephesians 4:11, which is to equip the saints for works of service to building up the body of Christ.” Church members also appreciate how he continuously sought new resources to help them in their spiritual growth and note that Armour’s emphasis of his signature verse (2 Cor. 5:21) will long be remembered.

Armour was honored at an afternoon reception Jan. 5 in the church fellowship hall. He and his wife, Lynn, have three children and one grandchild.
