Joel Gregory to teach at Baylor’s seminary

WACO, Texas — Joel Gregory, who became known for being tapped to succeed the legendary W.A. Criswell as pastor of First Baptist Church, Dallas, is moving back into the role of professor.

Appointed a professor of homiletics at Baylor University’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary, Gregory earned his bachelor’s and doctoral degrees at Baylor long before embarking on a career that climaxed in his brief pastorate of First, Dallas. Gregory, 57, formerly taught preaching at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He has worked in various roles since resigning from the pastorate of First, Dallas, in 1992.
