As bikers headed down Highway 431 in southeast Alabama Sept. 24–25 toward Panama City Beach, Fla., for the annual Thunder Beach event, members of Judson Baptist Association churches were there to greet them at the Headland city limits.
Members of Trinity, Balkum, Bethlehem and First Baptist churches, all in Headland, and Concord Baptist Church, Newville, set up a rest-stop area near a service station, complete with hot dogs, chili, sodas, water, evangelism tracts and a big smile to share.
Nearly 200 bikers stopped for fuel, food and rest and received a little hope and prayers, too.
“We didn’t meet a stranger the whole time,” said Director of Missions George A. Thompson. “We got in the middle of them the whole time. A lot of people want to stereotype bikers … but we met doctors, lawyers, real estate guys, preachers and deacons and had all walks of life there.
“And we were able to share Christ with some of them. … I feel sure they’ll receive a blessing from it,” he added.
