Judson College hosted the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association’s Western show Feb. 18.
Teams from Zone 5, Region 2 participated, including Berry College, Clemson University, Georgia Tech, Lander University and North Georgia College & State University.
And on Feb. 25–26, Judson equestrians competed at Berry near Rome, Ga.
Judson equine coaches Jennifer Hoggle and Janice Williams said they were proud that for the first time in many years, Judson had riders qualified for the regional horse show in both Western and hunter competition.
Megan Cook, of Murray, Ky., qualified in the hunt seat advanced walk/trot/canter class. Rebecca O’Neal, of Chatom, qualified in the hunt seat walk/trot class. Andrea Luckie, of Alexander City, qualified in the novice Western horsemanship class. Corey Finlay, of Oxford, qualified in the intermediate Western horsemanship class. And Jana Davenport, of Jemison, qualified in the beginner Western horsemanship class.
Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C., sponsored the equine hunt seat regional show March 3. O’Neal placed third in walk/trot competition.
Lander in Greenwood, S.C., hosted the Western regional show the same day.
Luckie placed first in novice Western horsemanship. Finlay placed second in intermediate Western horsemanship. Davenport placed third in beginner Western horsemanship.
Luckie and Finlay will compete in the Western semifinal show March 24–25 at the University of Findlay in Ohio.
