Judson Equestrians Reaching Out

Judson College’s equine science department included a new class this summer: Animal Partnership. One service-learning project was transporting horses to Perry County Nursing Home and Southland Nursing Home, both in Marion, each week for a month. Students visited with the residents and shared their love of horses with them.

The Judson equestrian program has had a partnership with both local nursing homes in the past through Nursing Home Week and other activities, according to Jennifer Hoggle, director of Judson’s equestrian program. “I feel that this is a class and partnership that we’ll keep alive.”
