Judson opens school to displaced students

Judson College (JC) announced Sept. 14 that it has opened its enrollment to student displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

The college is offering full tuition and fee waivers for the 2005-06 academic year for college students in regionally accredited institutions displaced by Hurricane Katrina. The college will also work to expedite the federal aid process to cover room and board, and aid will be available for books.

“This is a way to help and if we can ease the (students’) suffering a little bit,” said Mark Tew, Judson senior vice president. “We’re glad to do it.”

Michael Scotto, Judson director of admissions, said, “We encourage every student who is looking for a temporary college home to call or e-mail us at her earliest convenience.”

Each application will be reviewed by the office of admissions, and interested students are encouraged to contact the college at 1-800-447-9472 or through Judson’s Web site, www.judson.edu/.

Students and faculty of Samford University and the University of Mobile are also joining in efforts and ministries to help those affected by the hurricane.
