Husband and wife duo Keith and Kristyn Getty have committed their collective musical career to preserving the distinct elements of the hymn.

In an industry increasingly catering not to the old “turn in your hymnal” style of Sunday worship but to contemporary praise band stylings, this is a noble endeavor.
Though possessing the structure of hymns, however, it is likely that only trained ears will be able to appreciate these songs in that regard. The modern instrumentation and slick production simply overwhelm the technical subtleties of hymnodical composition.

The good news is that this in no way detracts from the exceptional ambiance created by the Irish couple.
His mellifluous, piano-based arrangements beautifully match her crystal-clear voice, and their latest album is a great achievement.
