Scooter Kellum has accepted the position of team leader of leader empowerment and mobilization for the State Convention of Baptists in Indiana. He will begin at the end of July.
Kellum has served as youth ministry strategist for the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions since June 2015. The SCBI board approved Kellum’s new role May 9.
“I am excited to join Dr. Ryan Strother and the Indiana Baptist family,” Kellum told the Indiana Baptist. “Serving church leaders to produce Kingdom impact is my passion. I owe a great deal of gratitude for Dr. Rick Lance and Alabama Baptists for their investment in me over the last 7 years.”
In his new role with the SCBI, Kellum will ensure the SCBI’s Next Step strategy of serving churches runs efficiently, as well as work to cultivate growth and care for SCBI church leaders.
“Scooter will be an incredible asset to our SCBI staff to help us take a momentous step in better serving our churches. His ability to relate to all leaders and oversee our new strategy will help us become a convention of strongly connected churches. While his leadership is for all of our convention, we get a bonus in that his expertise in student ministry will move us into supporting youth and collegiate ministry in stronger ways,” says Ryan Strother, SCBI Executive Director.
Kellum and his wife, Chelsea, are members of Crossroads Community Church in Elmore, where she serves as preschool and children’s minister. They have 4 children.
