Kevin Blackwell, resigns from Valley Creek Baptist Church, Hueytown

Kevin Blackwell will resign from his position as pastor of Valley Creek Church, Hueytown, on Jan. 5. He will take a position as director of church relations and assistant to the president at Samford University in Birmingham in early January. Blackwell holds a bachelor’s degree from Samford University and a master of divinity degree and doctorate from New Orleans Seminary. He previously served as minister of students and associate pastor for Tannehill Valley Church, McCalla; Fairfield Highlands Church, Midfield; and West Side Church, Bessemer. He also served Garywood Church, Hueytown, as youth minister. He and his wife, Lorrie, have four children.
