Jack Gilchrist Kirby, who retired as pastor of New Elkahatchee Baptist Church, Alexander City, in October, died March 20. He was 63.
A native of Tennessee, Kirby had served as a pastor for more than 20 years. He and his wife, Shirley, lived in Rockford. He was ordained at Providence Baptist Church, Talladega, and served at Macedonia Baptist, Sylacauga; Bon Air Baptist, Bon Air; New Elkahatchee Baptist, Alexander City, and New Harmony Baptist Church. He also owned Kirby Sport Shop.
He is survived by his wife, two children and three grandchildren. (The Alabama Baptist)
