Kornegay, Lonnie E.

Lonnie E. Kornegay, former director of missions (DOM) for Pleasant Grove Baptist Association, died May 10. He was 85.

Kornegay attended Samford University in Birmingham for a time and served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

In addition to serving as DOM in the early 1960s, he served as pastor of five Pleasant Grove Association churches: Lakeview Baptist Church, McCalla; Prudes Creek Baptist Church, Brookwood; Big Hurricane Baptist Church, Brookwood; Enterprise Baptist Church, Cottondale; and Friendship Baptist Church, Brookwood.

Kornegay is survived by his wife, Inez Hyche Kornegay; two sons; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. (TAB)
