Lafayette’s Milltown Baptist marks 175 years

Milltown Baptist Church, Lafayette, celebrated its 175th anniversary Aug. 16 with a full service at 10:30 a.m.

Opening remarks were given by East Liberty Baptist Association Director of Missions Dale Wood and special music was performed by Chuck Huckaby and the Milltown Choir. Jared Milner prayed a prayer of dedication before Pastor Roger Hammett brought the message. 

The flowers for the celebration service were placed by Milltown Baptist secretary Yvonne Counts in memory of Lorene Milner, a longtime member who recently passed away. Jerry Steele, a church deacon, gave recognition for deceased members including Lorene Milner, Richard Counts and Rena and Bill Adams. 

The more than 100 participants enjoyed a covered dish lunch that concluded the celebration. Yvonne Counts said, “We all just had a great time.”
