More than 300 teens gathered in the gymnasium of Lamar County High School in Vernon April 26 for the FBI 2008 Youth Rally.
Hosted by Fellowship Baptist Church, Vernon, and co-sponsored by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the rally featured popular youth leader Gary Permenter as guest speaker.
The FBI (Fellowship Baptist Introduces) event came about when members of the Lamar Baptist Association church’s youth group approached Pastor Jeremy Sorrells about staging a rally and inviting young people from all over the community.
“They asked, ‘Can we do this?,’ and my response was, ‘Not can we but when do you want to do it?’” Sorrells said.
He believes the end result was well worth the effort.
“We had a wonderful time of praise and worship with four professions of faith that we know of,” Sorrells said. “Some wanted to talk about calls to the ministry, and others just wanted us to pray with them. It was a great night.”
