Landmarks: Turning Points on Your Journey Toward God

Landmarks: Turning Points on Your Journey Toward God

Bill Delvaux. Nashville: B&H Publishing, 2013. 190 pp. (Paperback).

Imagine one of the early explorers in this country. He and his team might have a small amount of information from Native Americans and other explorers, but it is vague — just landmarks, really. There is a river to cross, a mountain to scale or skirt. There is no GPS, no road map showing where to turn.

Bill Delvaux likens life to those early explorations, with a series of landmarks to be reached but with little information on how to get there. Using his own life as a painfully honest example, Delvaux has developed nine landmarks that he believes parallel the human spiritual journey.

While not a magic bullet for the confusion, uncertainty and hopelessness that often beset us, “Landmarks” is like a mirror through which we can see ourselves — perhaps, like the stages of grief, giving us a frame for what we are experiencing and helping us move toward “the full life Jesus has planned for us.”

So “if you feel stuck out there on the highway of humanity” and are in need of spiritual direction, “Landmarks” might help you find your way.
