Retired Alabama Baptist pastor Leroy Shelton Larrimore died May 19, after an extended illness.
With a ministry spanning 55 years, Larrimore served as pastor of several Alabama Baptist churches throughout his career. He retired from Saraland Baptist Church after serving for 25 years.
Following his retirement, Larrimore served the past six years as minister of congregational care at Dauphin Way Baptist Church, Mobile. He also taught the auditorium Bible class.
During this time, Larrimore often ministered to patients and families to Mobile-area hospitals.
Other churches he served during his years in ministry included – Dixons Mills Baptist Church; Horeb Baptist Church, Whatley; Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, Walker Springs; Center Baptist Church, LaFayette; and Forest Avenue Baptist Church, Jackson.
Larrimore was a graduate of Tennessee Temple College and Seminary (now Tennessee Temple University) in Chattanooga, Tenn.
While in Chattanooga, he worked to establish mission churches, working at The Union Gospel Mission under the leadership of Lee Robertson and Highland Park Baptist Church.
Larrimore is survived by his wife, Frances, and son, Stephen Mark Larrimore. He was preceded in death by his son, Luther Shelton “Larry” Larrimore.
