The award-winning Larry Stephenson has been fronting his own band for 19 years, and over those years he has recorded a lot of great gospel music. His latest effort, “Thankful,” takes the prize.

The title song is an old Ira and Charlie Louvin remake, and they would be proud of Larry’s rendition.

I really enjoyed the old hymn, “Press on o’ Pilgrim.” This toe tapper has great instrumental breaks. Other classic remakes include the old hymn, “Washed in the Blood of the Lamb.” Bluegrass fans will be thankful they added it to their Bluegrass-gospel collection. (By Les Butler)
