A picture paints a thousand words. At least, that’s what LifePoint Church, Albertville, in Marshall Baptist Association was hoping for when members turned the church foyer and auditorium into an art gallery.
Inspired by the current sermon series, “Masterpiece,” based on Ephesians 2:10, Life Pastor Quinton Williams said the pieces in the gallery symbolize all masterpieces of art pale in comparison to the masterpiece of people in the eyes of God.
“When people think of beautiful things, we think of landscapes, the sky or waterfalls,” Williams said. “But in this series, we want people to look around at all this beautiful art and then hear that God considers them most beautiful.”
LifePoint started the art gallery Sept. 4, and since then, more than 250 pieces have gone up.
And with 70 percent coming from local artists, Williams and Pastor Matt Brooks said it has provided countless opportunities for conversation with nonchurch members.
Williams said the art serves the dual purpose of showcasing God’s own creativity through the artistic work of others and providing a service to the local community.
“LifePoint is sharing the width of community in another innovative way to reach the community for Jesus Christ,” said Randall Stoner, director of missions for Marshall Association.
Ultimately that is the goal for LifePoint and the art gallery — to redirect people’s attention back to God, Williams noted. (TAB)
