NASHVILLE — LifeWay Christian Resources’ Church Resources Division has a new leader and a slimmer staff, with several positions being eliminated and the loss of about 30 employees.
Eric Geiger was approved by LifeWay trustees as vice president of the division in February and within a few days implemented a reorganization.
Geiger — author, speaker and former executive pastor — came to the position in an interim capacity in the fall to determine what changes needed to be made. “They wanted to do some new things in curriculum and other areas, new things in digital and leadership, but the structure and some of the resources didn’t allow that,” LifeWay spokesperson Marty King told The Alabama Baptist.
LifeWay president Thom S. Rainer told employees, “I believe these changes are necessary because the new opportunities they make possible are exciting and bode well for the future of LifeWay. But that didn’t make the personnel decisions easy.”
