Lincoln Baptist celebrates 125 years of existence

Lincoln Baptist Church in Coosa River Baptist Association celebrated its 125th anniversary Sept. 30 with an extended worship service.

The service began at 10:30 a.m. and featured special music by former church member Tara Combs and the church choir.

Tom Whatley delivered a message based on Joshua 4 to the approximately 200 attendees.

Sonja Adams, representative from the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, presented a plaque to the church to commemorate the day. Randy Hagan, director of missions for Coosa River Association, also spoke to the congregation.

Following the service was a fellowship lunch and slideshow presentation featuring photos from church members.

Pastor Bill Goodwin said the day went very well “and there were a good number of people from the community and people who had grown up in the church … who had come back for this [day].”

“My hope and dream is that we’d continue to build on [the rich history of the church] and continue to reach our community for Christ,” Goodwin concluded.
