During his slight hiatus from his original recordings, worship leader Lincoln Brewster was a behind-the-scenes soldier for some of praise and worship’s recent best. “Today is the Day” has him back on the front lines with a fresh sound and an impressively powerful delivery to which fans of Chris Tomlin and the Michael Gungor Band should readily sign. The soulful “Give Him Praise” sounds like something Michael W. Smith could be proud of and the skill apparent in Brewster’s sizzling guitar work, though handled with obvious John Mayer sensibilities, is reminiscent at times of none less than Phil Keaggy. The result is an eclectic, anthemic, recommended powerhouse of a record.
