John Long is making a move from the farthest south association in the state to the farthermost north association.
The former pastor at First Baptist Church, Hazel Green, is returning to Madison County as director of missions (DOM) for the Madison Baptist Association Aug. 15.
Long, who has served as director of missions for Baldwin County the last three years, previously served 15 years as the associate director of discipleship training with the Alabama State Board of Missions.
He has served as second vice president of the Alabama Baptist State Convention for the past two years.
Walter Nunn, search committee chairman for the Madison DOM, said, “We’re all very excited we could get someone of John Long’s caliber to become our director of missions.” Nunn, led the 10-member committee, said, “We have been working on it since January and we feel the Lord has led us to him.”
Nunn, pastor of Lakewood Baptist Church, Huntsville, said Long was chosen from a field of 85 candidates from nine states.
