Charles Flora can attest to the value of consistent, long-term nursing home ministry.
The blind 67-year-old resident of Marshall Manor Nursing Home in Guntersville recently came up smiling from his baptism in the home’s whirlpool.
It was a “special” moment, according to the Women on Mission group of First Baptist Church, Guntersville, which alongside other churches has been ministering consistently to Flora and other residents at the home for more than 20 years.
“This ministry has become a real part of the heart of our women,” said Rosalie Hunt, who works with the Women on Mission group. Hunt noted that the group’s ministry goes on year-round, celebrating with residents on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day and offering monthly birthday parties for them and a Christmas store.
And when Flora came to Christ, it gave the program new fire. “He was so excited,” Hunt said, adding that the group feels the same way.
