While more than 1,000 protesters, many shouting profanity and making obscene gestures, filled the streets outside Boston’s Tremont Temple Baptist Church, inside conference attendees struggling with homosexuality were hearing a message of love.
The Oct. 29 Love Won Out conference sponsored by Focus Family prompted the biggest demonstration of the event’s eight-year history.
Mike Haley, host and keynote speaker of Love Won Out, admitted that protesters are scary and said the hatred from activists was growing more volatile but still expressed the importance of speaking the truth in love. “If they truly heard our message, if they truly heard the message that we’re speaking to these families, they would not be so angry,” Haley said.
Nearly 800 people who attended the Boston conference heard from him a story of pain, hope and redemption as he shared how he found freedom from the homosexual lifestyle.
