Lystra Baptist in Ashland celebrates 150th anniversary

Lystra Baptist Church, Ashland, celebrated its 150th anniversary July 13. Special music was provided by The Pylant Family. Brody Barkley, music and youth minister, shared highlights of the church’s history and former pastor, Skip Cook, reflected on his time as pastor. Additional guests included, Richie Farrow, Carey Baptist Association’s director of missions, and his wife, Donna, who grew up in the church. Farrow was baptized, licensed and ordained at Lystra. The church received a commemorative plaque from Wendy Westerhouse, executive director of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission. Pictured with her are Pastor Josh Barkley and Farrow.
