Macedonia Baptist marks 125 years

In the afternoon of Sept. 30 more than 120 former and current members of Macedonia Baptist Church, Fayette, gathered together to celebrate the church’s 125th anniversary.

Scott McCullar, pastor of First Baptist Church, Carbon Hill, was the guest speaker for the service.

Judith Cannon spoke on the history of the church and several former pastors shared briefly about their time at Macedonia. The state of Alabama sent a proclamation recognizing the church.

Angie Cooper presented the church with a certificate of commendation on behalf of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, and associational mission strategist for Fayette Baptist Association John Killian was in attendance.
“The celebration was wonderful,” church member Judith Cannon said. “Seeing all the people coming back for the celebration was a highlight.” Casey Watkins is pastor. (Jessica Ingram)
