WASHINGTON — Nearly 70 percent of Americans say the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision, which legalized abortion more than four decades ago, should not be completely overturned, according to a new Pew Research study.
That figure (69 percent) is slightly up from 2013, when 63 percent reported they felt that way, similar to findings from the previous two decades.
Public opinion varied by religious affiliation, according to Pew. Among all Protestants, 63 percent say the decision should be overturned, but among white evangelicals, that number drops to 49 percent.
