Police arrested a pastor in Sudan in what appears to be a case based on a businessman’s desire to seize church property.
Morning Star News quoted a church member saying Daud Fudul Kachu, pastor of Sudan Presbyterian Evangelical Church, was arrested and jailed Oct. 28. The church is in Atbara in Sudan’s River Nile state.

While the pastor was in custody, police told him the Muslim businessman had given 30 days for the church to vacate the property, the congregant said.
Ongoing battle
After the church’s attorney intervened, the pastor was released without bail Oct. 29.
The fight over church properties has spanned several years, Morning Star states. The news outlet further points to “the government favoring Muslim business interests taking over assets owned by the SPEC and other churches in Khartoum and in other states in Sudan.”
On Sept. 3, an Islamist sought to seize a SPEC school in Omdurman, an area source said.

Sudan is No. 5 on Open Doors’ 2025 World Watch List of the 50 places most difficult to be a Christian.
