Building and maintain a Web site is useless if you have no visitors, Web site experts say. Churches must market their sites to attract viewers.
First, the Web site address should be added to every publication and correspondence that leaves the church including bulletins, announcements, flyers, brochures, business cards and letterhead, according to resources focused on marketing Web sites. Other ways to market your site include word of mouth, advertisements and mailouts to the surrounding population.
Promote the site
“Everywhere that a church has traditionally advertised its information should include its Web site address at a minimum,” said Dale Gorham, CEO of Net-to-Net and member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church, Vestavia Hills. “Also, churches should look for opportunities to have their Web sites listed in various search engines- most are free for nonprofit organizations – and various state and local directories that specialize in church Web sites.”
Gorham also encourages churches to list their Web sites with their local chamber of commerce and visitors bureau directories.
