Two committees, the Credentials Committee and the Tellers Committee, were appointed during the state convention’s opening session. Another, the Committee on Committees, was appointed during the Tuesday sessions.
State Convention president Mike McLemore announced the appointments 30 days prior to the annual meeting in accordance with bylaw requirements, but the appointments needed to be ratified bythe messengers during the meeting.
The convention Credentials Committee helps with problems regarding registration and seating of messengers.
Serving as chairman of the committee was Bill Hand of First, LaFayette. Working with him were Donald Berry, First, Spanish Fort; Lenny Bolton, Chisholm, Montgomery; Lonnie Funderburg, First, Birmingham; Eva Gambrell, Lakeside, Birmingham; Lesa Nesmith, Lindsay Lane, Athens; and Rodney Bowling, Flint River, Hazel Green.
Tellers Committee members helped convention officers tabulate convention votes. Scotty Hogan of Westmeade, Decatur, served as chairman. Other members were Mike Grindle, Brooks Memorial, Atmore; Billy Nale, First, Foley; Carl Scivicque, First, Bay Minette; Gary Cardwell, Fairfield Highlands, Midfield; George Martin, Ladonia, Phenix City; and Diane Ellis, Lakeside, Birmingham.
The following were also elected to serve on the Committee on Committees: Betty Baggott, Farmdale, Opelika; Buddy Champion, First, Decatur; and Roger Willmore, First, Weaver.
