MeadowBrook Baptist Church, Gadsden, in Etowah Baptist Association had 21 people go to Stafford and Quantico, Va., for the June 21–28 high school missions trip.
The team did two backyard Bible clubs each day — one in the morning with Stafford Baptist Church in a housing project and one in the evening with The Church at Quantico on the Marine Corps base it is located on.
The LifeWay Christian Resources’ 2009 Vacation Bible School theme “Boomerang Express” was used as the curriculum.
On June 24, the team grilled hamburgers in Quantico as a way to reach out to the community, which Michael Bozeman, MeadowBrook Baptist’s student pastor, called a spiritually dark place.
“It was a great experience,” Bozeman said. “I watched my students share their faith and step up and lead.”
