MeadowBrook Baptist Church, Gadsden, on mission

Social media took on a new meaning for MeadowBrook Baptist Church, Gadsden, when a group of 20 from the Etowah Baptist Association church attended City Uprising in New York for four-days in June. Approximately 150 students from 10 churches — including Shades Mountain Baptist, Vestavia Hills, in Birmingham Baptist Association — attended the intensive hands-on missions conference that gives students the opportunity to share about God in some of the most prominent urban cities. Aaron Coe, pastor of The Gallery Church, New York, led the conference.

The MeadowBrook Baptist group participated in street witnessing and community restoration and helped promote free HIV testing clinics. While witnessing on the street, group members took photos of people and directed them to the Gallery Church Facebook site to view the photos and find information about the church.

“The whole project was just a way to get people in the community into their church,” said Josh Malone, MeadowBrook’s students and families pastor. “We felt like we helped.”
