Meadows to join SBOM staff as student ministry strategist

Josh Meadows is the newest member of the collegiate and student ministries team at the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions.

Meadows, who has served as family life pastor at Spring Valley Baptist Church in Springville since 2017, starts in his new role as student ministry strategist March 1.

“We are excited to have Josh serve on our team,” said Ben Edfeldt, director of the SBOM office of collegiate and student ministries. “Josh has demonstrated years of faithfulness in reaching and discipling students. He has also demonstrated a desire to serve his fellow student ministers. He loves them well.”

History of serving state’s students

Meadows has served in ministry for nearly 20 years. During his time at Spring Valley Baptist, he was a key leader for the SBOM office of collegiate and student ministries, coordinating Speak Tour events around the state.

“He has a passion to see students across the state know Christ, follow Christ and be mobilized to reach others,” Edfeldt said. “Josh will effectively lead our office’s desire to reach every student by equipping and supporting our wonderful student ministries across the state.”

Edfeldt said Meadows will be working to support all types of student ministry leaders from volunteer-run ministries to large multi-staff ministries.

Meadows said he’s excited about that.

“I can’t wait to partner with Alabama youth ministries to train, resource and equip leaders to fulfill the Great Commission,” he said. “I am looking forward to being a part of a network of youth leaders who will invest in each other.”

Helping students ‘live on mission’

He said he’s also excited “to be used by God in reaching students all over the state with the gospel and helping them live on mission.”

Before serving at Spring Valley, Meadows was a church planter and a student pastor in Georgia. He earned a bachelor’s degree in pastoral ministries from Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa, Georgia, and a master’s degree in leadership at Luther Rice University in Lithonia, Georgia.

He and his wife, Jenn, have four children — Joshua, Josiah, Jubilee and Janna.
