The name of Happy Home Baptist Church, Leeds, was especially appropriate Sept. 18 as former members returned home for the church’s 75th anniversary celebration.
Jacky Connell, who grew up in Happy Home Baptist, was the guest speaker for the service. Exodus, a southern gospel group from Gadsden, sang special music for the “packed-out crowd,” said Pastor Geoff Lowe, and also sang after lunch.
Alabama Baptist Historical Commission representative Gerald Glenn presented a commemorative plaque to the St. Clair Baptist Association church.
