Meredith, Clyde Raymond

Former Alabama pastor Clyde Raymond Meredith died June 27 at the age of 88 in McComb, Miss. He was born Oct. 7, 19134, in Buncombe County, N.C. He was a graduate of Mississippi College and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Meredith served as pastor in Mississippi before moving to Bessemer, where he was pastor of Second Baptist Church 1952-1961. He was pastor of Raleigh Avenue Baptist Church in Birmingham 1961-1971. He then moved to Wylam Baptist in Birmingham in 1971 and retired from that position in the late ‘70s. In retirement he and his family moved to Brandon, Miss., and then to Brookhaven, Miss. He passed away in an assisted living facility in McComb, Miss. Family survivors include wife Helen Meredith, sons Raymond Meredith and Richard Meredith, daughter Carolyn Douglas and several grandchildren.
