Mills joins State Board’s communications staff

Chris Mills has been named an associate in communications services at the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions (SBOM).

Since June, the 23-year-old has worked as a communications intern.

Rick Lance, SBOM executive director, said, “As an intern, Chris proved to be a quick learner and multitalented. Now, as our newest and youngest state missionary, he is well poised to infuse our Web ministry with a fresh approach and help it become an even more valuable resource for Alabama Baptists.”

The SBOM executive committee unanimously elected him to the new role during its Jan. 24 meeting.

Mills will serve as Web minister for the SBOM Web site (www.alsbom.org) and as facilitator for training and consulting in Web site design for Alabama Baptist churches.

Mills was born in Montgomery and reared in Greenville. He is a graduate of Troy University where he majored in journalism and public relations and served as president of Baptist Campus Ministries.

During his years at Troy, Mills took missions trips to East Asia, South Africa, Venezuela, Texas, Mississippi and Maryland. He is a member of First Baptist Church, Montgomery.

Keith Hinson, the SBOM’s former Web minister, will continue to serve as public relations associate.

Hinson has acquired new duties related to denominational relations, development of new Web-based prayer and video initiatives as well as research responsibilities for the SBOM executive office. (SBOM)
