Brooke Sanders won the 2014 Miss University of Mobile (UM) pageant Jan. 25 and will represent the university throughout the year and in the Miss Alabama Pageant (a Miss America qualifier) in June. She also was selected as the People’s winner.
“Winning Miss University of Mobile is a dream come true,” Sanders said. “I want to fulfill this responsibility with humility, authenticity and grace.”
Sanders, a junior sociology major from Headland, performed a piano piece titled “Prelude in G Minor” for her talent. Her platform was “Princesses with a Purpose.”
“I started portraying fairytale princesses a year and a half ago at children’s hospitals, festivals and other venues that needed a touch of magic,” she said. “‘Princesses with a Purpose’ also works well with the Children’s Miracle Network, which is the Miss America platform.”
“God has used this university to make me into the person I am today,” Sanders said. “I can give back to the university by praising the educational and spiritual development it offers to students.”
First runner-up, swimsuit and talent winner was Tiffany Baker, a sophomore from Chatom.
Rachel Lucas, a sophomore from Memphis, Tenn., was named Miss Congeniality.
