Thank you for remembering me as I made my move to my target city. I have been living in a different city five hours away from my target city for the past seven months because I’ve been trying to find a way to get invited to live there.
In this country, you have to have a pretty legitimate reason for living somewhere. Mine was to study the language, and I was finally “formally” accepted one month ago. I am “officially” the first ever foreign language student at this college.
Please pray I will adjust quickly to a new life here and the different pace of life around me. It is stressful for me right now as I adjust. I want to settle in, but I also want to hit the ground running.
I recently started volunteer work at the local hospital to build friendships with doctors, nurses, staff and the patients. A man I met eight months ago has a wife who is a nurse there. I am supposed to feed patients and help with any of their immediate needs. Pray I’ll be able to pray with them in the name of Jesus Christ.

We have gotten a new baby at Beautiful Gate orphanage. Her name is Mpho, which means “gift” in English. She was abandoned under a tire and tested HIV positive. This does not mean she will be positive for life, as sometimes babies test positive from their mother’s antibodies.
Please pray for Mpho- that she will grow healthy and strong, and that she will not be truly HIV positive.
The AIDS education with the youth from Sempethenyane Baptist is finished. Seven youth signed a commitment to be sexually pure until marriage and to share the truth of AIDS with friends and peers.
Pray for these youth, that they will desire a life of holiness and purity.

The growth of some of our church leaders is quite impressive. Another exciting thing is that the church decided to build a more permanent place of worship. They have faithfully given and saved their money over the last year and have decided to use it to build.
Pray that they will not allow their buildings to be their only focus, though, and that in spite of having a church building that they will keep their focus on God and on reaching others with the Good News of Christ.

Pray for God’s Spirit to work through a summer gospel seed sowing project being conducted by the ImpactJapan team. Some 120,000 colorful one-page evangelistic tracts are being distributed as newspaper inserts in areas targeting for evangelism and church planting.
The tracts offer free and discounted Bibles and books for people who would like to know more about the Bible and the Christian way of life. Pray that they will be used to identify “persons of peace” who will open their hearts to Jesus, spread the good news to others and become starting points for planting new churches.
